Hermes Trismegistus and the Mysteries of Alchemy

The Hermetic pantheon draws from the teachings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, a legendary sage who unites Greek, Egyptian, and mystical wisdom. In Hermetic creation myth, the divine Mind (Nous or Poimandres) contemplates itself and brings forth the cosmos through a series of emanations. The One Thing, the alchemical source, is the primal substance from which all things are formed. The Seven Governors (planetary archons) shape fate and the material world, while the soul journeys through the spheres seeking reunion with the divine. Hermeticism teaches that by understanding the laws of nature and spirit—"as above, so below"—one can achieve spiritual rebirth and mastery of both worlds.

The divine Mind emanates the cosmos and the Seven Governors, who each rule a planetary sphere. The soul descends through these spheres, taking on qualities and burdens, then must ascend back through the Governors—shedding each layer—to return to the divine source. Mastery of the Governors' lessons leads to spiritual rebirth and unity with the One.
