In the beginning, there was only the sky above, water below, and chaos between them. Olodumare decided to create order from this primordial state.

Olodumare sent Obatala down a golden chain to create solid land upon the waters, armed with a shell filled with sacred soil and a five-toed chicken to scatter it.

After the earth was formed, Obatala shaped humans from clay, but some were imperfect due to his palm wine consumption. Olodumare forgave these imperfections and granted them special spiritual significance.

Finally, Olodumare breathed life into the clay figures and assigned each Orisha their domain to maintain balance in the newly created world.
