Dumuzi

The Shepherd God and the consort of Inanna, who spends half the year in the underworld and half on earth. He is the spirit of the vegetation and the fertility of the flock, representing the "Sacrificial Cycle" of the natural world. His death brings the dry season, and his return brings the spring. He is the vulnerability of life, the one who teaches that even the most beloved must eventually answer the call of the shadows.
