Visionaries who established enduring institutions
A religious leader from Punjab and the founder of the Ahmadiyya movement within Islam. In 1889, he claimed to be the "Mujaddid" (renewer) of the age, the promised Messiah, and the Mahdi expected by Muslims, as well as an avatar of Krishna. He emphasized a peaceful "Jihad of the Pen" rather than the sword, advocating for the defense of Islam through rational discourse and writing. He claimed to have received thousands of divine revelations and performed numerous miracles to prove his mission. His claim to a form of prophethood remains a point of intense theological conflict between Ahmadiyya and mainstream Islamic denominations.
