Shamshi-Adad I

The "King of the Universe" and the first great empire-builder of Assyria, Shamshi-Adad I was a master of the logistics of power. He controlled a vast network of spies and couriers, realizing long before others that information is the true currency of the throne. He placed his sons on subordinate thrones to create a family firm of domination, turning Northern Mesopotamia into a disciplined machine of war and trade.
