John the Baptist

A lone voice crying out in the wasteland, he served as the bridge between old prophecy and the new light. Clad in camel’s hair and fueled by wild honey, he pointed away from himself and toward the "Lamb" who was to come. The rugged austerity of the wilderness was his only cathedral. His life represents the truth that one must decrease so that the Eternal may increase—a messenger who refused to be silenced even by a tyrant’s blade.
