Quirinus

The god of the Roman people (the Quirites) in their peaceful, civic capacity. Originally a Sabine war god, he evolved into the protector of the citizen-soldier when the sword is sheathed and the plow is taken up. He represents the social contract and the organized strength of the community. He is the "God of the Assembly," the one who ensures that the diverse voices of the city harmonize into a single, powerful state. He is the guardian of the civil peace.
