The lord of the Uku Pacha or the inner world, a shadowy deity who rules over the mineral riches and the spirits of the dead. He is often misunderstood as a demon, but to the Inca, he was the necessary guardian of the deep earth, the one who had to be appeased before a mine could be opened. He represents the dark side of the world, the heavy silence of the caves and the final destination of the physical body. He is the master of the shadows, the one who holds the keys to the treasures hidden beneath the stone.
