Mama Sara

The "Maize Mother" and the spirit of the corn, she is the goddess of the grain who resides in the oddly shaped cobs and the golden kernels of the harvest. She is the source of the bread and the sacred beer, a domestic deity whose presence is found in every granary and every cooking fire across the four quarters. She represents the sweetness of the earth and the abundance that comes from the careful labor of the terrace. She is the goddess of the small hunger satisfied and the communal feast shared under the sun.
