Pachamama

The "Earth Mother" and the living landscape itself, a goddess who resides in the soil and demands constant offerings of coca leaves and chicha to remain fertile and kind. She is the one who causes the earthquakes when she is neglected and the bountiful harvests when she is honored with a grateful heart. She is not a distant spirit but the very ground beneath the feet, the provider of the potatoes and the grain that sustain the lineage. She represents the permanence of the earth and the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth.
