An influential transhumanist philosopher and futurist who legally changed his name to reflect his optimism for the future. He believed that by the year 2030, humanity would achieve immortality and overcome the biological limitations of the body. He was one of the first to define the concept of the "transhuman"—a transitional being on the path to becoming post-human. He famously stated that "I am a 21st-century person who was accidentally born in the 20th century."
