Queen Nzinga

While not a central figure in traditional theology, she is invoked as the "Lioness of Africa," the warrior-queen who fought against the chains of slavery with the mind of a diplomat and the heart of a general. She represents the strength of the African mother and the refusal to bow to any earthly master. She is the spirit of the "Daughters of Zion," reminding the movement that the fight for freedom is shared by all genders and that the ancestral blood is rich with the courage of queens.
