Inari

The Kami of rice, fertility, and the fox. Inari is both male and female, old man and young woman, a fluid spirit who protects the harvest and the prosperity of the home. The kitsune (foxes) are their messengers, carrying the prayers of the people between the red Torii gates. Inari represents the "Sustenance of Life" and the sacred relationship between human labor and the bounty of the earth. They are the spirit of the market and the field, the one who knows that even a single grain of rice contains a universe of effort.
